The Warsaw University Library collection of incunabula contains rare juridical books. Published in Italy, the Corpus Iuris Civilis - a commentary on Roman civil law - belongs to this category.

Super I et II parte Infortiati are treatises by Bartolus de Saxoferrato, a professor at the universities of Pisa and Perugia. His works contributed to the development of jurisprudence in Italy and they were reprinted many times in the 15th century and beyond. These two imposing volumes were published in the leading Venetian printing houses of Nic. Jenson and Andr. Torresan.

Lectura super I, II et III libro Codicis consist of commentaries by Paulus di Castro, who was a legal expert, glossator, and lecturer in Siena and Florence. This edition was printed in Modena by Henr. de Colonia. A special page layout called modus modernus was used in this publication.

Our copies came from the collection of Friedrich Ludwig Keller (1799-1860), a Zürich lawyer and collector. His rich collection was sold at auction in Leipzig in 1862. At that time, some prints and manuscripts were bought by the Biblioteka Główna (Main Library) in Warsaw, currently the Warsaw University Library.
