To Our Friends and Sponsors

We are the main library of the largest Polish university, and serve the public as well. Every day 2,000 patrons visit our Library. For over 180 years, we paid equal attention to our historical collections and to our mission of continuous service to patrons. By the end of the 20th Century the Library developed very quickly. In December of 1999 a new library building was opened. Today our two highest priorities are to increase the number of users and to create, collect, and circulate electronic resources. Another high priority is to develop and maintain a special inter-library project with its coordination center housed in our Library: the National Universal Central Catalogue (NUKat).

As we want to complete these projects so that we may further expand our activities, we would welcome any kind of cooperation. The Library has an impressive interior space and superb location. Let's help you organize coferences, photographic sessions, or exhibits.
Become a Friend of the Library to play a significant role in the preservation of our unique history and culture.
Friends could, for example:

• help us convert card catalogues to the online catalogue
• sponsor selected item(s) from our collection (preservation, microfilm, digitalization, or elaboration)
• support our projects - for example, the creation of a unique 19th Century Collection, or the supply of equipment for the NUKat Center
• sponsor conferences, workshops, international activities of the Library, or our Library's memberships in professional associations.

We would like to invite you to meet with us to explain our plans for development as well as our working methods, and our ways to achieve our important goals. Let us show you our most interesting historical items and our most valuable electronic resources, too. We can also offer you space on our web page or a link to your site.
